Samsung HC — High Heat Error
What This Code Means
The dryer's thermistor or high-limit thermostat detected a temperature above the safe operating threshold. The dryer shuts off to prevent damage and fire risk.
Common Causes
- Blocked exhaust duct (most common — see d80/d90 for duct cleaning steps)
- Failed thermistor giving a false high-temp reading
- Heating element shorted to ground (electric models)
- Gas valve failing to close properly (gas models — fire risk)
DIY Steps to Try First
- Check and clean the lint filter and exhaust duct (see d80 steps above).
- After cleaning, let the dryer cool for 30 minutes before restarting.
- If HC returns immediately on a clean duct, do not continue using the dryer.
