How Epic Star repairs range hoods in Los Angeles
A range hood that won’t pull air leaves smoke, grease, and cooking odors hanging in the kitchen — and in the high-end open kitchens common across Westside LA, that’s an immediate problem. We repair the fan, lighting, controls, and ventilation on every hood type and run these calls on our same-day-first model.
All hood types
We service wall-mount chimney hoods, island hoods, under-cabinet hoods, built-in inserts/liners, and downdraft vents. Downdraft units add a motorized lift and remote blower, which are frequent failure points; built-in inserts on premium ranges often use high-CFM blowers that draw heavily and wear over time. We carry common motors, switches, and lighting on the van.
Premium brand experience
Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Best, and Zephyr hoods are common in Beverly Hills and Bel Air kitchens. These use higher-CFM blowers, multiple lighting zones, and electronic controls — different parts catalogs and lead times than mainstream Broan or GE units. We service both tiers.
Diagnostic-first pricing
The service call is $85, waived entirely if you proceed with the repair. After diagnosis you get a flat-rate written quote upfront — never an open-ended hourly bill. If an inexpensive builder-grade hood isn’t worth the motor it needs, we’ll tell you directly.

Frequently asked questions
How much does range hood repair cost in Los Angeles?
Most range hood repairs cost $150–$450. Light or switch replacement typically runs $150–$250. Blower/fan motor replacement $250–$450 depending on the unit. Control board or touch panel $280–$450. Built-in inserts and downdraft hoods on premium brands cost more due to harder access. Our $85 service call is waived when you proceed with the repair.
Do you repair Wolf, Viking, and Thermador hoods?
Yes. We service premium range hoods and inserts from Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Best, and Zephyr — common in Beverly Hills and Bel Air kitchens. These often have high-CFM blowers, multiple lighting zones, and electronic controls. Premium parts may ship with 2–5 day lead times for non-stock components.
Why does my range hood have weak suction?
The most common cause is clogged grease filters — clean or replace them first. After that, the usual culprits are a failing blower motor, blocked or kinked ductwork, or a backdraft damper stuck closed. Recirculating (ductless) hoods also lose performance when the charcoal filter is saturated. We diagnose the actual restriction rather than guessing.
Can you fix a downdraft vent?
Yes. Downdraft vents (often paired with cooktops, including Wolf, Viking, and Jenn-Air units) have a motorized lift mechanism and a remote or in-unit blower. Common failures are the lift motor, the blower, and the control board. These take longer than standard hoods due to access, but they're squarely within our work.
Is my range hood worth repairing or should I replace it?
Inexpensive builder-grade hoods under $200 retail often favor replacement on a motor failure. Mid-range and premium hoods (Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Best, Zephyr) that match your kitchen aesthetic and ducting are usually worth repairing, since replacement may require re-cutting cabinetry or ductwork to fit a new unit.
Do you offer a warranty and do you speak Spanish?
Yes to both. Every completed repair includes a 30-day labor warranty, and parts carry their manufacturer warranty. ¿Habla español? Hablamos español — our technicians and dispatch are bilingual. Call (213) 205-2055 or visit epicstarcor.com/es/.
